Our Story
Param’s journey into organic farming began as a hobby, a therapeutic retreat from the rigors of academia. What started as a small plot of land for personal cultivation soon blossomed into a full-fledged enterprise. Her transition from Professor to farmer did not happen overnight. It was a gradual evolution, born out of curiosity, dedication, and an unyielding passion for sustainability.
The turning point came when Param embarked on a sabbatical, during which she immersed herself in the study of sustainable farming practices and agricultural systems around the world. This period of introspection and exploration allowed her to witness firsthand the transformative power of organic farming in nourishing communities, preserving biodiversity, and mitigating the environmental impact of traditional agricultural practices.
Armed with newfound knowledge and a reinvigorated sense of purpose, Param made the bold decision to leave academia and establish her organic farm, “Param Agro Fresh” with the brand name “Saadhaka Organics” Nestled in the rolling countryside of Shivalik foothills in Chandigarh. “Param Agro Fresh” under the brand name of “Saadhaka Organics” quickly became a sanctuary of biodiversity, bursting with an array of organically cultivated fruits, vegetables, herbs, fertilizer, animal husbandry, and eco-friendly bio solutions.
Param’s farm was more than just a business; it embodied her unwavering commitment to sustainable living and environmental stewardship. She implemented innovative, regenerative farming techniques, emphasizing crop diversity, soil health, and resource conservation. Her farm served as a living testament to the principles she once imparted in classrooms—principles now translated into a thriving, sustainable enterprise.
Param’s impact extended beyond the boundaries of her farm. She sought to empower and educate others about the benefits of organic agriculture, hosting workshops, and partnering with local farmers and educational institutions, to impart her knowledge to students and communities. Her experience as a professor shone through as she seamlessly blended scientific expertise with practical, real-world applications, inspiring a new generation of environmentally conscious agricultural enthusiasts.
The transition from academia to entrepreneurship was not without its challenges. Param encountered scepticism and apprehension from some of her academic peers, who questioned her decision to leave the hallowed halls of academia in pursuit of a more unconventional path. However, her unwavering passion and the tangible results achieved through her farm soon silenced any lingering doubts.
Today, Param stands as a beacon of inspiration for women in both academia and agriculture. Her journey from Professor to organic farming entrepreneur serves as a testament to the transformative power of passion and the boundless potential for meaningful change. Through her endeavours, she exemplifies the seamless intersection of knowledge, dedication, and a profound love for the Mother Earth—a remarkable narrative of a woman who fearlessly charted her own unorthodox course from the lecture hall to the bountiful fields of organic agriculture.
Param’s pivotal moment in her journey to organic farming occurred during a sabbatical she embarked on while she was still a Professor of History. This sabbatical marked a period of profound introspection and exploration for Param as she sought to deepen her understanding of sustainable farming practices and agricultural systems around the world.
During this time, Param travelled extensively, immersing herself in diverse agricultural communities, and witnessing firsthand the transformative power of organic farming. She encountered inspiring examples of sustainable agriculture that nourished communities, preserved biodiversity, and mitigated the environmental impact of traditional farming methods. This experience served as a profound awakening, solidifying her commitment to transitioning from academia to organic farming.
The sabbatical provided Param with a rare opportunity to translate theoretical knowledge into practical, impactful work. It allowed her to connect with the Mother Earth in a tangible way and reinforced her belief in the regenerative potential of organic agriculture. Through this transformative experience, she gained the insight, inspiration, and resolve to establish her organic farm, “Param Agro Fresh” with the brand name “Saadhaka Organics” and become a passionate advocate for sustainable agriculture.
The pivotal moment during her sabbatical ignited a profound shift in Param’s trajectory, guiding her towards a new path that would embody her dedication to environmental stewardship and sustainable living.
